It's the end of an end, and the beginning of a beginning! As we look back on this past year, I hope you have many memories to carry with you into the new year. Remember the good, but don't throw out the bad. All of it shapes us into who we are.

Sanctuary Worship Night

This is Josh Smith, a local worship leader here in Kelowna.  This shot is from a recent worship night he and others led at The House.  It was an excellent night of music, and I really enjoyed the opportunity to be there with these talented musicians and worshipers. Okanagan Lake in November

Between work and picking up my daughter from school I had an hour, so I headed over to Kinsmen Park.  It's one of my favorite places to go, as it's always so quiet.  The sun sets pretty early, and this was just towards the beginning of it.  It wasn't so spectacular in person, but just the process of capturing the image brought out some excellent color.  I love it when that happens!

Once of my favorite places to wander in Kelowna, I shot this a while ago. It's three exposures combined to bring out more detail in the highlights and shadows, usually known as HDR or High Dynamic Range. For my first attempt I'm fairly happy, but I've figured out a few tricks for next time.

Not having much time to shoot right now means that I'm going back to photos I've made previously, putting in a little work to those that would benefit, and working on my editing skills. I'm also studying up on posing my subjects, to help them look their best in front of the camera.

Yesterday I received some prints that I ordered from Whitehouse Custom Color.  They came out great!

Thanksgiving Sunset

I took this on Thanksgiving Monday evening, from my mother-in-law's front deck.  She has a nice view of Lake Okanagan, if you can get over the neighbor's roof.

One of these days I'll get a sunset that includes the lake.

Road Trip

We needed to get away for a bit yesterday, so we took off to Vancouver for awhile. Visited Harbor Park and drove along West Georgia street, which has to be some of the most beautiful roadway I've ever seen.

The fog at the Coquihalla summit was spectacular!

On the way back home we  caught a bit of sunset as the clouds broke

Working on building a website. It's not going to be much, but might work better for me than a blog, since I find I'm not a writer. The problem is I'm not really sure what I would want it to look like. Oh well, little by little I'll get it worked out.

Beginnings

Welcome to my blog.  As a young photographer, I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of the arts.  I enjoy practicing on my beautiful kids and my wonderful wife, but at the same time I am also looking to move beyond this.
